IPPF contributes to Forum on Security, Human Development and Social Cohesion, Brazil

IPPF Vice-President Dr. Alejo García Basalo represented IPPF at the Fórum sobre Segurança, Desenvolvimento Humano e Coesão Social (Forum on Security, Human Development and Social Cohesion), Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. 

The event, held on 15–16 April 2024, was convened by the Latin American Permanent Committee for the Prevention of Crime, which is part of the United Nations Latin American Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (ILANUD).

Dr. García Basalo provided an assessment of IPPF’s history, and introduced participants to IPPF’s new strategic plan, along with its ongoing commitment to the international community by contributing to the development of humane, evidence-based penal and penitentiary standards, policies and practices which protect the human rights of all involved.
